Birthdays at 50 and 75!!! Wow what a March

My mom and have both have birthdays in March only 4 days apart. We have always had wonderful celebrations together, but this year is especially special since she turned 75 and I turned 50. Wow, I hate to say that I am fifty, but I am a grandma you know, and I love saying I'm a grandma. Anyway, we had several celebrations. I had mom and dad over for supper on her birthday and they had us over on my birthday, then we were able to have the our our girls and the rest of the family get together at a steakhouse in a neighboring town. There is a great little town that is a short driving distance for all of us, even though we all live in three different towns. So here's to birthday's, the FIRST, the FIFTIETH, and the SEVENTY-FIFTH!!!! Wow what a year!
These pictures are kind of cool showing my mom holding W when he was a tiny baby, and me holding him at 1 year old at the zoo this week.

Valentine's Day Cutie

We had such a wonderful Valentine's night with our precious grandson and his mommy and daddy. We went to the Outlaw Steakhouse where they joined us. After a great steak dinner we looked in on the dance that we could not attend because they were sold out. But, we were able to just listen to some music during a break and he is loving to "dance" now. It is so funny and just hysterical. After dancing a little we found a little car in the arcade area. He loved it the first time and had to stand up as he thinks he is so big and is starting to walk everywhere. But when daddy put in another quarter, he was done!!!!!He is so funny and a blast even when he is upset.

8 Ramdon Things about ME!!

Gin at Keepsake Moments tagged me to list 8 random things about me, so I will try to think of 8 interesting things about me.

1. I love cats. I have had an indoor cat for most of my life, but due to allergies that several of my family members have, I can't have a cat inside now. So I usually have a cat outside, but many times they don't survive too long because we live in the country and there are so many coyotes. I do have a precious KIKI now that I got from craigslist. She is a sweetheart and she sleeps with the two precious dogs on the backporch on my wicker loveseat. They are all just precious animals that I love.

2. I am looking forward to retirement. It may be 5-7 years down the road, but I am sure hoping that I can retire from teaching someday. I have really enjoyed my years as a teacher, but it seems to get harder every year either dealing with so many learning disabilites, or the difficult parents. Thankfully I don't have the extremely difficult parents every year, but when I do, it is the pits!!!

3. I am very excited about my best friend at
Cawfee Tawk who is going to be moving down to live in this area as soon as she gets everything together to get out town. I know that she will really enjoy the move and it will totally change her life.

4. I love to shop at Goodwill, junk stores, garage sales, antique stores, e-bay and craigslist. I am a junk junky. It is like a treasure hunt. I could do it all the time if I had the money.

5. My oldest daughter was a rodeo trick rider during her summers of high school. She did the death drag where she hung by her feet dragging along beside the horse the horse with her head hangin down and he hair sometimes touching the ground of the rodeo arena. She did the Hippedrome or Liberty stand where she stood up on the horse and held the American Flag around the arena.

6.My youngest daughter showed the Reserve Grand Champion Hog in her first Stock Show her freshman year of High School. Then the next year when her dad was the teacher she was not able to show because her hog got a rare disease called joint pneumonia and couldn't show him. It was heart breaking to her. She was able to participate the next two years and had a blast!

7. I love to help others and try to be a peacemaker whenever there is a problem and someone is not getting along. I wish that I could become a counselor.

8. I hate exercise, and having to diet. I know that I need to do both, but they are just not fun to me and I can think of all kinds of excuses not to do them. Even though I plan to do both almost every morning. I'm going to be dieting this next week. Salad and Chicken, every day for lunch.

What a CRAZY DAY AT SCHOOL!!!

With a thick sheet of ice on all highways around here. School started 2 hours late. Teachers were to be there at 9:30. Students came at 10 am. Second graders go to lunch at 11:00 am, so we didn't have much time to get rolling when it was time to get ready for lunch. Then, about 10:45 the electricity flickers 2-3 times and we have no electricity. Now it's time to go to restr
oom and wash hands. Well our restrooms are VERY VERY dark without electricity and you can't see a thing, so lets get out the Germ X and we're ready for lunch. After returning back down the hall to start eating my lunch, hear from the office that it is a major power outage and we might not have power before 2:oo pm. The office starts to call parents to come and get kids. Then about 11:25 am the electricity comes on. But since calls have already been made, we will go ahead and dismiss at 12:30.

What mass confusion today!!! Now tomorrow we are scheduled an early dismissal for the Stock Show. This week has been a crazy one!!! Let's get back to some normalism (don't believe that is a word). I've only got about 80 days to get these kids ready for third grade!!!

What's the Best Way To Spend a Weekend

Got to keep precious grandbaby this weekend and it was so MUCH FUN!!! He is absolutely darling. He is also a perfect angel when he stays here. He was so good.He let me read books to him and rock him to sleep. I could have rocked him for the whole two days. They grow up so fast it won't be long before he won't let us rock him. I had a fabulous weekend playing with my darling grandson.

He enjoyed playing with this little table and chairs that I painted when his mama was a little toddler. It is supposed to be the Three Bears Cottage and the Little Chairs, are Momma Bear, Baby Bear and our Pappa Bear is in the shed, as it needs some repair work. Anyway my girls loved to sit here and play for a little while. Wes being a typical little boy loves to walk around the table and crawl on it. He did like to talk baby talk to the Baby Bear Chair.

We had a wonderful time and I know his mommie and daddy had a good time out with their friends too. This was the first time they left him overnight except for the time everyone had the terrible virus about two months ago. They came to get him about 2:00 this afternoon and when they pulled into the drive way I walked out the front door to meet them and his momma was so excited to see him, as he was very excited to see her too. She really missed him. She is such a wonderful mother!!! I am so proud of her. It's hard to work everyday and leave you baby. At least she has her mother-in-law to take such wonderful care of her baby boy.

Well, GinGin better go and get some rest for my 20 other children in class tomorrow. I get called Grandma there too. Which is perfectly fine, because being a grandma is one special fantastic job!!

My Lumly Saddle is gone to a collector who has 20 of them!!!!

I'm so glad that a collector bought my saddle. It's great when someone with a collection finds another one for their collection. The husband and wife who bought the saddle live in Cushing, Oklahoma where the saddle was made. They drove down here to purchase it from us. The were very nice people.
I sold the ropes too and I think that was a roper who was going to use them. I'm so glad to make a little extra money.

Band From TV

This band is great. I saw them on Jay Leno last night and they are a bunch of actors from tv that have put a band together and they have a band that performs mainly for charity. They were really good. The House tv show star Hugh Laurie plays the keyboard and he was Jay's guest last night and I thought the band was fantastic, so I'm going to purchase their cd-dvd, "Hoggin All the Covers" today. I think it will be great. See them at Band from TV.org

Oh, I do love Craig-- Collectibles for sale

I love craigslist. I have decided to sell some of my collectibles that I am not really using anymore and I have listed on e-bay before, but found craiglist and love to buy from there and love to list there since it doesn't cost like e-bay. I have this old handmade saddle and some used ropes that son-in-law didn't used anymore and some other items that I think are great. Take a look if you go to craiglist. Check out these items if you are interested.

God is Good

We have had a wonderful holiday!!! This vacation break from school has been terrific. All of the family here for Christmas. We had had a wonderful Christmas day and I was just trying on the beautiful shawl that my Aunt Wanda sent me for Christmas, prancing around when there was a knock on the door and I could not imagine who was coming to the door, thought it was a neighbor from down the road. When I looked up who should appear but my darling, best friend Tracy from back home. She was laughing so hard by the surprised look on my face and the loud scream. She made the ending to a great day even better. Then we had such a fun rest of the week. We went to Waco twice. We put away Christmas decorations and rearranged my living room. She is so good at this type of thing. She needs to be an interior decorator. The she helped me repaint the spare bedroom and arrange the furniture and wall decor. My house looks beautiful thanks to Tracy's Interior Design. Love ya, Trac!!! I am so anxious for her to make her move to our area and start a new life. I know this is hard for her, but I am praying that it will be exactly what she needs to do.

AUNT HOLLY GIVES WES HIS FIRST HAIRCUT

I'm getting my first haircut, and Aunt Holly is giving it to me. She is a good hair cutter!!
I got to play with her water bottle too.

I was being really good and mommy was holding me.

Look at me I'm so handsome.

What a perfect way to end a beautiful haircut. We love each other so much!!!

What a Wonderful Weekend

Look at me and all these toys. What do I play with first?

I can get into GinGin's cabinet and make a mess, because it is a mess anyway.
These are my Great-Granmothers, Gran and Nanny.

GinGin made me some sugar cookies. I really like those cookies with icing.

I can walk if GinGin holds my hands. I might be walking by myself at Christmas.

I like to play peek-a-boo now. See me lookin for ya?

Shani and Wes, Holly and her girlfriend Kasey, Kenny's Mom (Betty) and my Mom and Dad came to have lunch yesterday. We had such a wonderful time. We had quesadillas, and cheese-filled bacon wrapped jalepenos.
I so wanted to give wes his Christmas presents to play with, but I resisted a little. I gave him the smallest one and he did have fun playing with it. He left it here and I will wrap it and he probably won't even remember it.
We had a wonderful visit. I wish we could do it more often.

Secret Santa Yippee!!!

Oh, Boy!! Went to the mailbox and found my Secret Santa Gift. Oh, what fun!!! Inside the special gift bag, were so many goodies. Beautiful candles, delicious chocolate, precious soap and darling bookmarks, a cute as a button big button of
Wes that I put on immediately, and the cutest Secret Santa Gift Tag.
OH, I love it all, can't wait to sit around this holiday season and read and use my magnetic bookmarks. I at a piece of chocolate right off and it was delicious.
THANKS SO MUCH, whoever you are. MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I'm mailing my gift today, I's had a hard time finding the right box.
THANKS SECRET SANTA WHOEVER YOU ARE

Little Peyton Payne is doing very well so far

If you have checked the caring bridge wesite about Peyton, you know that she is doing better everyday and they are past the 72 hour mark. Her little chest may be sewn up on Sunday and if it is and everything continues as is, she will be off the ventilator and should go home in about 10 days or 2 weeks.

I just cannot imagine going through that with that precious baby. I am thankful this Thanksgiving for the medical technology and doctors that perform these jobs today. My daughter Shani told me her heart was the size of a strawberry. OMG, how are they able to do the wonderful things they do. A week old baby on a ventilator and a pacemaker. Thank you Lord for all the wonderful medical miracles performed by excellent surgeons. Praise God!!! Thanks to everyone in blog-land for you prayers. Keep up the good work.
