I just saw some great information on a blog that I started to follow.  She is recommending Dove body wash. She participated in reviewing their product and said for all of us girls here in Texas, it is what we need for our weather, and as hot as it is today, I can see that we could all use a little pampering.  So head on over to her blog and sign up for the $1.00 off coupon and a Dove sweepstakes.www.coloradolady.blogspot.com
Wes and his Great Grandad Mac

I thought this was a great picture of my dad and Wes.  Of course dad had to say well does it look like a big fat man and a little bitty toot.  I think it is just adorable.  We had a real good time that day.  Wes really enjoyed getting to swim with Mac and they both needed a little cooling off!!!  HAHA
We've had a very busy time this past week.  Had a great time for KB's birthday.
He really enjoyed it.  Just having family together is always fantastic.  It's supposed to be really hot here today, so I guess we'll just try to stay inside or in the shade anyway.  We thought of going to the lake and maybe we'll make it this afternoon or tomorrow.  It's really nice just to have a day to relax.
I rode with KB to Kilgore yesterday and it takes six hours round trip, so that makes a long day for him.  I don't know if my company is very lively, but he gets to listen to me gab on the phone to my wonderful friends and of course I like to control the radio.  We do have a good time just being together.  Hope you are having a very blessed weekend.
God Bless,
Gin

Let's celebrate KB's Birthday!!!  I've got a lot to do this week.  Went to BigW  yesterday and headed back today.  While I was in W, got a reminder call of dentist appointment for the next day, dang, if I'd known I would have waited and done everything on Tuesday.  Anyway, while in W and making my trip to Sam's, I bought a Ninja Kitchen system.  I really wanted one of these as I can use it as a blender  and food processor, etc..  So excited and brought it home and it doesn't WORK,  grrrrrrr.  Power light won't come on , so I'm back to W to return it today. I'll let you know how this turns out later.

I havent' posted in quite a while, because I have been so busy with all our summer fun activities. I have been making salsa, peach cobbler, peach jam, etc. Also, I've been helping my dear friend decorate her country home on their old family farm/ranch. She asked me to help her and it has been great fun for me. Today I wanted to share a delicious recipe from my mimmie. These are Mimmie's Bran Muffins. These muffins are absolutely fabulous and definitely good for you. Another good thing about these is you can make up one batch, or double it and they keep in the frig for 2 months (according to mimmie's recipe) I wouldn't keep them longer than a month and mine don't even last two weeks. now for the recipe. Mimmie's Bran Muffins 1 cup bran buds (just plain bran) 1 cup boiling water 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 cup buttermilk ( I don't usually have buttermilk, I take 2 cups milk and add 2 T. vinegar) 2 eggs 2 1/2 cup flour 2 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 cups bran flakes Pour boiling water over bran buds and set aside to cool. Melt butter in microwave and add sugar. Mix together. Add eggs and buttermilk. Add ddry ingredients. Add 2 cups of bran flakes. Last, add cooled bran buds. this mixture can keep in the refrigerator for 2 months. It is handy to double the recipe and use when needed. Bake at 400 degrees for 18 minutes.

Well, It had been quite awhile since I have had time to post something on my blog. Finished cleaning out my classroom today and Oh, my goodness. I have made a big decision about my teaching career. I have decided to retire after 28 years of teaching. I have looked forward to this day for many years, but when it comes right down to making the move and that LEAP OF FAITH, it is really pretty tough to do. I did go ahead upon Faith and DO IT!!! I spoke to my superintendent yesterday and she was such a sweetheart. She made me feel so good. I really didn't want anyone to make a big deal of my retirement and she understood. She said that she and the school would really miss me. I will really miss the little kiddos, that I enjoyed everyday. Of course there are the ones that I won't miss much, but others that I really will miss seeing. My last year was a very rewarding one, with a very beautiful group of children. I am so thankful to the Lord for being able to touch their lives with my teaching. Also, in making this decision, I used to enjoy teaching so much, when the state and government was not so involved in eveything and you could plan some wonderful themematic units of study for the kids. Now, everything is so mandated and it is not even enjoyable to me anymore. I missed being able to do the fun and creative things that I used ot do in my classroom. So now, I believe I will get started on a second career, just not sure what I will do. I would love to start a business, junks and crafts, and maybe write a children's book....... Let's see, where should I start first..
